Marcus J. Brüning is a Partner at Executive Interim Partners.
With more than 20 years senior executive (CFO / CRO/ General Management) and international consulting experience in corporate finance, restructuring and performance improvement, Marcus has advised and worked with investors, corporates, creditors and banks in financial and operational restructurings, performance improvement initiatives, cross-border reorganization and realignment efforts across a wide range of industries, including consumer products (fashion, bicycle production), retail, machine manufacturing, food production and media.
Prior to joining EIP Marcus was a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) Restructuring and Performance Improvement practice in Germany and London.
Marcus served as Interim CFO/CRO of a major German retail company. Post Transaction he led the restructuring, transformation (from a family owned business to a private equity owner) and cost reduction program.
Prior to joining A&M, Marcus was CFO of a family owned mid-cap company in the food Industry. Marcus was responsible for corporate finance, controlling, accounting, procurement, human resources and information technology.
Prior to this engagement, Marcus was a Partner with Oliver Wyman’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring Practice in Munich, where he was responsible for various international performance improvement and restructuring projects.
Furthermore, Marcus served as CFO of a publicly listed German consumer products manufacturer (bicycle production), where he was responsible for finance, sales and the Post Merger Integration (PMI) of a major acquisition.
As Managing Director for a portfolio company (bicycle production) of a private equity firm investing in distressed companies, Marcus was responsible for all restructuring activities (e.g. managed closing of plants, building up procurement solution for China, managed restructuring and cost reduction of German plant operation, coordinated M&A initiative and due diligence with final sale).
Prior to this, Marcus was Managing Director of an investment fund of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, London, with a focus on media.
Marcus began his professional career with the Dresdner Bank Group, where he worked as a Project Manager in Structured Finance. During that period, he gained broad experience in financing, M&A and due diligence across a range of industries.
Marcus earned a master`s degree in business administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) from the University of Passau. Marcus has graduated as Certified Systemic Coach at the European Business School (EBS), Oestrich-Winkel and Mediator (MAB), Berlin. A German national, Marcus is fluent in German and English.
